Lab 1 Task: Who am I?

Step 1. Create a Word document by writing about 200-300 words (no more than a page) about

1) who you are and
2) why you want to take IST 110 course.

Step 2. Save the document and edit the document by

• using the spell and grammar check
• copying, deleting and pasting
• adding a header by typing your name, IST 110, Section #2, and a footer with the page number and Lab #1.
• adjusting the margins by 1.5' on the left, and 1' on the other three sides

Step 3. Further edit your document by adding the following elements:

• add a footnote (don't confuse it with footer! It is some annontation placed at the foot of a page or at the end of a document) or endnote
• insert a table where you see it fit (with or without border)
• create a bulleted list (don't use graphic bullet!)
• indent text (not by tabbing; there is such a funtion, find it out!)
• insert and resize an image

Step 4. Go through Steps 1-3 above and check your documents with the list.

Step 5. Print the document and turn in.

Step 6. Email your edited document "Who am I?" to me as an attachment at ge@ist.psu.edu.

• align, move, copy, cut and paste text
• save and print text
• use Page Setup function
• create and edit a table (insert/delete rows or columns)
• insert page number
• use header, footnote and endnote
• create a tabbed tabel and an itemized list
• created bulleted list; indent text
• copy, paste, or insert, size an image
• open, save, and send a word document attachment
