About Me

I'm a faculty member in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. Before joining Penn State, I completed my Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was supervised by Prof. Yi Ma. I received my Bachelor Degree in Automation from Tsinghua University, China, in 2007 and Master Degree in ECE from UIUC in 2010, respectively.

My research interest lies in the broad area of computer vision, machine learning, signal processing, and applied data sciences. I am particularly focusing on 3D Vision. Specifically, I develop novel computational tools to model and analyze the 3D environments from big visual data, and apply them to solve challenging real-world problems in VR/AR, vision-based navigation, architectural design and engineering, social media, and more.

I am looking for highly motivated students to work with me in computer vision and machine learning research area. If you are interested in our graduate program, please read this. If you are looking for undergraduate research projects or visiting scholar opportunities, please send me an email with your CV.
