About Me

I'm a faculty member in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. Before joining Penn State, I completed my Ph.D in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I was supervised by Prof. Yi Ma. I received my Bachelor Degree in Automation from Tsinghua University, China, in 2007 and Master Degree in ECE from UIUC in 2010, respectively.

My research interest lies in the broad area of computer vision, machine learning, signal processing, and applied data sciences. Specifically, I develop and analyze new computational tools for efficient and robust discovery of low-dimensional data structure from high-dimensional observations, and apply them to solve challenging real-world problems such as 3D reconstruction, structure from motion, face recognition, and content-based image retrieval.
