Speaker: Na Wang Title: Facebook Privacy and Security Issues Abstract We study the privacy and security issues related to third-party apps on Facebook. We first collect data from 1800 most popular Facebook apps to determine what kinds of personal information those apps are trying to obtain from users. Our results suggest that there is a large amount of users' personal information transmitting from Facebook to third-party app developers. We then conduct two experiments to identify failures in user information control implementations on Facebook. Our results identify a few weaknesses regarding this platform. To address some of these issues, we propose our new design for third-party apps' authentication dialog in hoping to provide Facebook users a more effective authentication interface and improve their information control on Facebook.
