Assignment Number 4: Basic Web Page
Requirement: Based on the readings and your study of
Whitten and Bentley (1998), design a basic Web page with the
specifics features mentioned below.
Goal of this Assignment: Demonstrate knowledge of basic
HTML programming and an understanding of system design and
implementation.
Specifics:
Your Web page must contain NO hyperlinks to any other page, on
or off site. This includes inline images that are links to other
pages. It must also not contain any stylesheets, Java, ActiveX,
or Javascripts.
Your Web page must contain at least but not limited to:
- a specified title
- two headings
- three different size fonts
- two different color fonts
- some type of text special effect
- two pictures or images
- a table
- a specified background color
- three internal links, one of which returns the user to
the top of the page
- one frameset
Design your Web page IAW the approach, along with elaboration,
provided below.
- Design:
- Concept: What is the concept of the site? Who (i.e.,
customers, employees, children, etc.) is it design for?
- Planning: Does the site work to achieve the
concept? Can one easily accomplish what one would come to
the site for?
- Assets: How is the multimedia? Does it contribute
or distract from the concept of the site? What about the
text? Is it clear with correct grammar and spelling? Does
it relate to the multimedia?
- Layout: How is the layout of the site? Does the
layout aid the user in accomplish his/her goal? Is the
layout effective and efficient?
- Code: Is the code effective and efficient? Do the
links work?
Submission Requirements:
- You must submit a hard copy of with the URL of your site
(i.e., the "first page" of your site, not the
source code) and a reference list for any images, text,
or assistance you used or received in assignment
preparation.
- Post your Web Page at Tripod (http://www.tripod.com/) or
any other presence provider you desire.
- Be prepared to deliver a 6-minute presentation on your
Web Page to the class, touching on each of the design
criteria mentioned above.
- The class will critique your Web site during the
instruction period.
Due: The assignment is due at the start of the class
period, Week 5, 4 May 2000.
